When 11-year-old Fia stepped onto The Voice Kids stage in 2023, no one expected the kind of silence that would follow — the kind that comes when a performance moves you so deeply, you forget to clap.
She sang “Flashlight” by Jessie J — and at the same time, she signed the entire song in German Sign Language. Not for show. Not for the judges. But for her little sister Emilia, who can’t speak.
“I sing bilingually,” Fia told the cameras afterward, with the quiet confidence of someone who knows exactly why she’s doing what she’s doing.

Fia — full name Fia-Marie Lin — was born in Shanghai, but grew up in Berlin, where she now lives with her family. Her younger sister Emilia is at the center of her story. Emilia was born unable to speak, and rather than accept that as a barrier, Fia learned sign language so she could share songs with her.
It became a way of life — and now, a part of her music.
Outside of singing, Fia’s a pretty typical kid. She loves swimming, dancing, climbing, listening to K-pop, and hanging out with her two pet rabbits: Simba and Puschel.
A Voice — and a Message — on National TV
Fia auditioned for Season 11 of The Voice Kids Germany in 2023. She stood alone on that big stage, sang “Flashlight,” and signed every lyric. You could hear the shift in the room — the coaches leaned in, visibly emotional. Lena Meyer-Landrut was in tears.
Fia’s audition went viral. But more importantly, it opened a conversation. Her voice wasn’t just about sound — it was about connection.
She made it all the way to the finals. She didn’t win, but that didn’t really matter. Her performance was unforgettable — for what it said, and for who it was for.
From TV to Eurovision
Later that year, Fia was chosen to represent Germany at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Nice, France. Her song was called “Ohne Worte” — “Without Words.”
And once again, she sang and signed the lyrics.
She finished 9th out of 16 entries — a proud moment for Germany, and an even prouder one for a young girl who had never forgotten why she started singing in the first place.
So… What’s She Doing Now?
Turns out, quite a lot.
Since Eurovision, Fia has stayed busy with music and live performance. She released a single called “The Real Me” in mid-2024, and later collaborated with a friend she met at Eurovision on a song called “2 Much 2 Dream.”
She also performs as part of the Friedrichstadt-Palast youth ensemble in Berlin, where she’s involved in the stage show Frida & Frida. She’s gaining experience, confidence, and probably making a lot of new friends in the process.
Not Just a Singer — A Connector
There’s something rare about Fia. Not just her voice, which is soft but clear. Or her ability to perform under pressure. It’s that she’s found a way to use music as something bigger than entertainment.
She sings with her voice, yes — but also with her hands. With her heart. With intention.
And at just 12 years old, she’s already showing that sometimes the most powerful performances aren’t the loudest. They’re the ones that come from love, and land in silence.
