From Got Talent to The Voice Kids: How Victoria Sanchez Stole Hearts in Portugal

Victoria Nicole Sánchez Rodríguez was born in Ocumare del Tuy, Venezuela. From an early age, she showed a strong connection to music, taking piano and vocal lessons and practicing classical and lyrical singing. Her family moved to Portugal in 2018, when she was about 5 or 6 years old, seeking new opportunities. This move gave her access to bigger stages and professional training that helped shape her career.

At just 9 years old, Victoria appeared on Got Talent Portugal in 2020. Even at that young age, she stood out for her vocal clarity, emotional depth, and stage presence. She was called “uma pequena grande voz” — a small girl with a big voice. The judges’ smiles and amazement during her performance showed how naturally captivating she was. Her audition video has since gained over 1.7 million views on YouTube and has become a favorite performance across social media.

Victoria didn’t give up. She auditioned for The Voice Kids Portugal multiple times over the years before finally being accepted. Her persistence paid off in 2024, when she won the competition. Her audition song, “Voilà” by Barbara Pravi, made all four judges turn their chairs immediately. She impressed audiences and coaches alike with her emotional delivery, technical skill, and maturity far beyond her age.

During the competition, Victoria performed “I Surrender” by Céline Dion in the semifinals and “My Heart Will Go On” in the finals. Her mentor, Nininho Vaz Maia, guided her through rehearsals and song choices, helping her find the right balance between technique and performance.

Victoria is not only a singer; she is a young musician in the making. She plays piano and ukulele, studies classical and lyrical singing, and speaks multiple languages: Spanish, Portuguese, English, and is learning French. She has also written her own songs, showing a strong drive to create original music alongside her performances.

Her family, especially her mother Liliana Costa, has been a key support, encouraging her to continue even after early rejections and helping her navigate auditions and competitions. Victoria herself emphasizes that persistence, discipline, and love for music are what have allowed her to grow as an artist.

Following her win in The Voice Kids Portugal 2024, Victoria has begun recording her first single with Universal Music. She continues to perform and share her music, growing her fanbase and inspiring audiences with her talent and dedication.

Victoria’s journey shows how talent, persistence, and support can combine to create real opportunities. From her first appearance on Got Talent Portugal to her win on The Voice Kids, she has grown, learned, and inspired audiences both in Portugal and internationally. Her incredible performances, the judges’ genuine amazement, and millions of views online prove that Victoria Sanchez is not just a young talent — she is quickly becoming a beloved voice for fans everywhere.
